Day 1:DAY 1 ARRIVE IN SAN DIEGO - Upon arrival, you have a complimentary transfer to your hotel. Your Tour Director is available this afternoon to welcome you and answer questions. Tonight, enjoy a Welcome Reception at the hotel.
Day 2:DAY 2 SAN DIEGO - A morning city tour highlights the quaint Gaslamp Quarter, the bustling Embarcadero, Balboa Park and historic Old Town. The afternoon is at leisure. Perhaps visit the San Diego Zoo or browse through lively Horton Plaza. This evening, head to Seaport Village, where dinner is served at a popular local restaurant. (B,D)
Day 3:DAY 3 SAN DIEGO / SAN JUAN CAPISTRANO / LOS ANGELES - Journey north and visit Mission San Juan Capistrano, one of the original missions built by the Spanish. On to legendary Hollywood for a guided tour of the Kodak Theatre, home of the famous Academy Awards Ceremonies. See Grauman's Chinese Theatre, the Hollywood Walk of Fame and drive along the fabled Sunset Strip to the palm-lined streets of Beverly Hills. Perhaps join a Movie Stars’ Homes optional tour and see the impressive celebrity mansions. (B)
Day 4:DAY 4 LOS ANGELES / SANTA BARBARA / CAMBRIA - Visit the J. Paul Getty Museum with its fabulous art collections and spectacular grounds overlooking the city and Pacific Ocean. Then follow the coast north to Santa Barbara, one of California's most beautiful cities with spectacular Mediterranean architecture. Finally, arrive at the quaint seaside town of Cambria. (B,D)
Day 5:DAY 5 CAMBRIA / SAN SIMEON / MONTEREY - A short drive along the coast brings you to San Simeon for a guided tour of Hearst Castle. Built on a hilltop overlooking the Pacific, the spectacular grounds and grandiose home feature the world-class art collection of newspaper magnate William Randolph Hearst. Your Tour Director will reveal a hidden treasure q, then travel north through the rolling hills of California's Central Coast, dotted with vineyards and wineries. Stop at the artist colony of Carmel with time to stroll down tree-lined Ocean Avenue with its quirky shops and art galleries. Ride along the scenic 17 Mile Drive, home to the famous Lone Cypress and Pebble Beach Golf Course, to the historic seaside town of Monterey, where Cannery Row and Fisherman's Wharf reflect the city's long history with the sea. Day 6:DAY 6 MONTEREY / SIERRA NEVADA MOUNTAINS / YOSEMITE NATIONAL PARK - Journey inland through the fertile San Joaquin Valley, known as the breadbasket of California. Stop at an historic fruit stand for a chance to buy fresh off the farm fruit. Then travel through the Sierra Nevada Mountains to Yosemite National Park. Enter Yosemite Valley and view the giant formations of El Capitan and Half Dome and breathtaking Yosemite Falls, the highest in North America. Enjoy a stroll along the Merced River and take in the beauty of this spectacular setting. (B,D)
Day 7:DAY 7 YOSEMITE NATIONAL PARK / NAPA / SONOMA / SAN FRANCISCO - Head west to the wine regions of Napa and Sonoma. Take a scenic drive along the Carneros Highway through rolling hills covered with vineyards and stop for a guided winery tour and tasting. Then cross the majestic Golden Gate Bridge and arrive in the city by the bay, San Francisco. Your evening is free. You may want to join an optional walking tour in Chinatown. This “city within a city” is an historic maze of mysterious sights. (B)
Day 8:DAY 8 SAN FRANCISCO - A morning tour features Union Square, Fisherman’s Wharf, Pier 39, the Victorian mansions of Alamo Square, the hills of the Presidio and Golden Gate Park. The afternoon is at leisure. This evening, join your fellow passengers for a festive Farewell Dinner. (B,D)
Day 9:DAY 9 DEPART SAN FRANCISCO - Transfer to San Francisco International Airport for your flight home. (B)
